Support contemporary dance!

Contemporary dance is worse off, in comparison with young art forms, and theatres see it as the “weakest branch”, a branch that is the first victim of substantial austerities. Dancers are not well paid and many establishments will dissolve whole companies to set themselves in a curator position, which favours guest performances and residency programmes. It is common knowledge that the conditions of production are difficult on the independent scene. Not every sociocultural centres include dance in their programme, but some of them set dance as a particular focus in artistic projects and performance practice. For more information about the LAKS´s position and the support of contemporary dance, please have a look at the German version of our website.
